This course is open to all incoming freshmen who want to hit the ground running on their Mercy high school careers! Balancing academic and social activities, this two-week program provides a foundation for their studies as well as a chance to get to know their classmates.
Students will learn how to use their iPad in an academic setting and familiarize themselves with our online academic platforms: Schoology and PowerSchool. Teachers will guide students through responsible use of our most frequently used communication apps, including Gmail and Google Drive. Students will also develop skills in reading comprehension, analytical writing, and discussion techniques. In this class, students will begin work on the summer reading assignments for English I and Honors English I.
Additional activities woven throughout the days include:
- ice breakers and getting-to-know-you games
- introductions to key instructors and program directors
- bonding exercises
- lots of fun!
NOTE: This program runs at the same time as High School Readiness. If you are required to take the High School Readiness Program, do not sign up for Transitions.
Registration is now closed for Transitions Workshop 2020. See you in the fall!
