We would like to invite your students to participate in Mercy’s “Fabulous Works of Art,” an art competition for 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade female students, held at Mercy High School in Burlingame.

Our Visual Arts department is committed to encouraging girls to build confidence in 2D and 3D Art creation while emphasizing the research and investigation of the different elements of Art.

Entries can include but are not limited to: Painting, Etching, Drawing, Collage, Sculpture, Ceramics, Fabric, and Mixed Media. This is an opportunity for your student’s work to be displayed in a gallery-like setting, exposing them to the works of other girls from around our community.

You may send up to five projects from each grade level. The works must be mounted and labeled (Student Name, Grade Level, Project Title, and School Name) and ready for display. All project judging will be conducted by our students who are members of the National Arts Honor Society-Mercy High School Chapter, using the guidelines set forth by the California Standards for the Visual Arts. Please email me by December 1, 2023, if your school is planning to participate and include the students’ names and their projects.

Welcome to “Girls in Science,” a science fair for sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade girls held at Mercy High School in Burlingame! In our commitment to strengthening girls’ science skills, we encourage research and investigation involved with science fair projects. Girls in Science will allow these young women to compete with 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade girls from other schools in the peninsula and San Francisco. Whether or not your school plans to participate in other science fairs this year, this is yet another avenue to promote your students’ work! And, with all of the hard work that goes into these, shouldn’t they be able to show them off?

Below you will see a timeline of events and due dates. You may send up to four projects from each grade level. The guidelines for judging projects will follow the guidelines set forth by the San Mateo County Science Fair. The Mercy High School Science National Honor Society will host and judge Girls in Science this year (juniors and seniors that are highly motivated in science).

If your school is interested in participating in “Girls in Science,” please email me at pbradley@mercyhsb.com by Friday, February 9, 2024 . Please include each participating student’s name, project title, grade level, school, and teacher’s name. If you do not know that information ahead of time, feel free to email me as the information becomes available.
