Social Media Community Guidelines

Mercy High School, Burlingame's official social media channels are an extension of our school community and a place to celebrate our students, employees, alumnae, families, programs, traditions, and mission.

We welcome respectful engagement from members and friends of the Mercy community. We ask those participating on our social media channels to engage with the same dignity and respect we expect within our school community.

Our Expectations
Comments and other user-generated content should be respectful, relevant to the conversation, and appropriate for a school community.

To protect our students, employees, families, and community members, Mercy reserves the right to remove or restrict content that includes:

• Harassment, bullying, threats, or personal attacks;
• Discriminatory, hateful, or demeaning language;
• Profanity, obscenity, or sexually explicit content;
• Defamatory or knowingly false statements;
• Content that compromises the privacy, safety, or well-being of a student or other member of the community;
• Spam, advertising, solicitation, or unauthorized commercial promotion;
• Content unrelated to the purpose of the post or that substantially disrupts constructive conversation; or
• Content otherwise inconsistent with the mission, values, or policies of Mercy High School.

Mercy may remove comments or other content, restrict participation, or block users when appropriate. Content may also be reported to the applicable social media platform or, when necessary, to appropriate authorities.

A Community Built on Respect
Comments posted by members of the public do not necessarily represent the views or policies of Mercy High School. The appearance of external links or third-party content on a Mercy social media channel also does not constitute an endorsement by the School.

Individuals participate on social media at their own discretion and are responsible for the information and content they choose to share. Use of each social media platform is also subject to that platform's terms, policies, and privacy practices.

Mercy's social media channels are intended to strengthen connection, celebrate our community, and share the story of Mercy. We appreciate your help in keeping these spaces welcoming, respectful, and reflective of the dignity of every person.
