Faith, Reflection and Connection
Retreats at Mercy High School are an essential part of the spiritual development of Mercy students. The retreat program is designed to give students intentional time away from their routines to pause, share, reflect, pray, and connect with others.
Rooted in faith and the Mercy tradition, students are invited to know themselves better and reflect on how they are called to live out Mercy in their own lives.

Freshman Year
Rooted in shared experience, the Freshman retreat invites students into moments of prayer, reflection, and connection, creating space for both personal growth and community building.
Juniors and seniors play a vital role, accompanying freshmen throughout the day. Through small group facilitation and heartfelt talks on the meaning of Mercy Sisterhood, they offer guidance, authenticity, and a glimpse of what lies ahead. The retreat concludes with a panel discussion and honest dialogue about life at Mercy which fosters understanding, reassurance, and a deeper sense of belonging.
Sophomore Year
Sophomores participate in a service learning day at St. Anthony’s Foundation in San Francisco. This retreat experience offers our students a practical and immediate service experience. Serving the marginalized is a key component to the vision for education of the Sisters of Mercy.
Junior Year
Kairos is an optional two night retreat held at the Jesuit Retreat Center in Los Altos. The word kairos is Greek for “the right or opportune time” and, in Christian tradition, refers to God’s special or appointed time - moments when we are called to be especially aware of God’s presence. Senior retreat leaders, under the direction of the Campus Ministers, prepare and conduct this retreat for the Juniors. Kairos provides the opportunity for deepening faith, self-reflection, and community. Students reflect on their relationship with God, themselves, and others. Many students describe the Kairos Retreat as a transformative experience.
Senior Year
Held each April, the Senior Retreat invites students to reflect on their Mercy journey and look ahead to the next chapter. Mercy alumnae return to share insights about the transition to college, while professionals from diverse careers offer guidance on staying true to personal values in today’s complex work environments. The retreat also provides sacred time for students to express gratitude for those who have shaped their Mercy education and to God for the many blessings they have received.
