It is hard to believe that next week is already Mercy Week! Mercy Week is dedicated to honoring our foundress, Catherine McAuley, the Sisters of Mercy, our school, and our treasured sisterhood.
When I think of Catherine McAuley I think of Mother Theresa, because if cameras were around during Mercy's early years, I have no doubt that they would have captured equally beautiful images of Catherine McAuley committed to educating, feeding, clothing, and caring for the poor. Catherine valued education in all forms, and because of her vision we have all been united through Mercy High School.
Catherine once said, "No work of charity can be more productive of good to society than the careful instruction of women." At Mercy we believe deeply in the value of an all-girls education and an education that encourages every young woman to be known, to be challenged, and to be transformed.
As we prepare for Mercy Week I want to thank you for sharing in Catherine's mission and vision. Thank you for giving us the gift of knowing your daughters and being able to be a part of their lives. Thank you for allowing us to continue educating young women in a way that is rooted in Catherine's vision and Mercy's mission.
We hope the girls have a wonderful Mercy Week!

The Mercy Varsity Soccer team will be playing Notre Dame Belmont on Tuesday December 10 at Avaya Stadium, home of the San Jose Earthquakes. The girls in the program are very excited to say the least for the opportunity to play in a professional team's venue. In order to play this game, Mercy had to commit to purchasing 50 tickets to the San Jose Earthquakes game on Sunday September 29. They play the Seattle Sounders with a 4:30pm start. The Earthquakes are right in the middle of play-off contention and this is a huge game for them. If you are interested in going and want to help the Soccer girls achieve their goal of playing at Avaya, please click HERE to purchase tickets. Thanks in advance! Please see the note we received from the Earthquakes concerning seat availability in each section. "There are a few different sections to pick from. Do not be deterred by the limited seat availability, there are more than that many seats in those sections!"
