WEEKLY FEATURE ![]() Today, Mercy dedicated our AMES and Resource Center to its Founder, Carol Galletta. The ceremony was attended by Carol's family and friends, Mercy alumnae, faculty, current students, and parents. Carol developed and nurtured the AMES (Academic Mentoring and Education Support) program, which is tailored to individual students' needs and learning styles. It empowers students with learning differences to explore their unique way of learning, hone their study skills, and take on the challenge of demanding course loads, athletics, extra-curricular activities, and more. Carol's work of building confidence and resilience is continued today by the current Coordinator Andrea Cabano, with the help of Randall Watts, Eileen Horan, and Sister Charlene Dazols. Building on the solid foundation that Carol laid, the program includes opportunities such as training for Faculty/Staff. With peer tutoring as a key feature, the Resource Center has also been expanded and is open for all students that seek a little extra support. We are truly honored to recognize Carol's legacy by the naming of the Carol Galletta AMES and Resource Center at Mercy High School. All SCHOOL NEWS
Final Exams begin next Friday, May 24
Library books are now due. All library books must be returned to the library before May 16. Any overdue books will result in the student's yearbook being withheld until either the book is returned or Mrs Murphy is reimbursed the cost of providing a new copy of the book. Please help your student find any missing books; under the bed, or in the shoe closet are often the preferred hiding places for these creatures. Mrs Murphy misses them and wants them home before inventory.
Sharing good Results on Lead Levels in the Water In May we had the City of Burlingame do tests on the water at the school looking for any lead issues. We have received the following results from Jennifer Lee, Environmental Regulatory Compliance Coordinator for the City of Burlingame: The Burlingame Water Division has received the lead testing results from the sampling event that was conducted between May 1 to May 2, 2019. Under state law, the minimum action level for lead is 15 parts per billion (ppb) or 15 µg/L. Your school's lead testing results indicate no exceeded levels of lead, therefore no further action is necessary.
