On April 4th, Mercy will host guest speaker Dr. Carol Langlois! An expert on teen self-esteem, Dr. Carol will present to freshmen and sophomore classes on topics such as bullying, body image, and peer pressure, followed by a Q&A. Dr. Carol is a former University Associate Provost and Dean, a therapist, researcher and published author. Her play, "Girl Talk: Teen Monologue Series" shares true-life teen situations and conversation.  

 

Her blog contains practical information and resources for parents, teachers, counselors and teens related to female self-esteem and empowerment. Her book, Girl Talk: Boys, Bullies and Body Image is a compilation of interviews with teen girls on the topic of self-esteem and also offers an effective and practical system designed to RAISE (Resilience, Attitude, Independence, Self-Respect and Empowerment) teen self-esteem.

Volunteers Needed for Music at Kohl Concert
Music at Kohl Mansion would welcome a few more volunteers for our concert this Sunday, March 24th.  We will also need volunteers for concerts on April 14th and May 12th, so mark your calendars now! Volunteers are needed from 6-10pm. Student volunteers receive 4 hours of service credit. Parent volunteers receive our undying gratitude! Please contact Katie Riggs at admin@musicatkohl.org. Athlete of the Week:
Track Athlete - Charlotte Liberty
Charlotte, who finished off the 2018 Track season by winning the JV 200 WBAL final, is back on track for the 2019 season. This past Saturday at the Aragon Invitational, Charlotte took home 4 medals. In the Frosh/Soph division she won the 400 with a Personal best time of 1:04:52. This time sets her in 11th place all time in the Mercy track records. Only a Sophomore, Charlotte is proving to be a valued member of the team as she also had a Personal best of 6"6 in the pole vault. This is a new event for her this year. Charlotte also helped the Frosh/Soph relay team to a 3rd place finish in the 4x400 relay as she ran anchor. Charlotte was also a member of the 3rd place 4x100 relay team in the Frosh/Soph division that finished with a season best time of 1:00:53. Great job Charlotte, keep it going.

Lenten Series: Altaration -
The Mystery of the Mass Revealed

Looking for a Spiritual Uplift this Lent?  If so, please join us for this five-part study on the Mass that features powerful cinematography, inspiring video presenters, and engaging resources. Altaration uses humor, stories, and small group discussion to capture our attention and instill in us a deep and lasting love for the Mass. Please join us on Thursdays in Lent in classroom 234A from 2:45p-3:45p. Dates include March 7, March 14, March 28, April 4, April 11, (skipping March 21). Bring your daughter or a friend.
