Dance-A-Thon 2018-2019  

ONE WEEK left for the student fundraiser! Donations are due by NEXT MONDAY, January 14th, 2019 to earn incentives (Prom or Formal day off; a Puppy Party*) 

Please note that if your sponsors are writing checks, they must be written out to eSponsor Now, INC. and should be submitted to the Main Office along with a completed check form. 

On the day of Dance-A-Thon, Friday, January 18th:

• 8am arrival
• Wear class colors
• Breakfast potluck in Advisory 
• Pick-up at 11:30am

The City of Burlingame has a New Roundabout

at the intersection of California Drive and Bellevue Avenue/Lorton Avenue. The final phase of the roundabout should be completed in February. The City developed a two-minute instructional video and asked that we share it with you to acquaint drivers, cyclists and pedestrians with the new traffic pattern. Please click HERE for the video.

New Year's Parent Mixer

THIS THURSDAY, January 10th, 2019, MPC is hosting a New Year's Potluck in the Kohl Mansion Dining Room from 5-7pm! Come enjoy this casual, community evening with other parents and celebrate the New Year together!  

Please bring a dish that has meaning to your family! The event is free of charge and MPC will provide beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages for all! RSVP by adding your name to the guest list. We look forward to seeing you after the holiday break!

College Meeting for JUNIOR Families 

Students and parents are welcome to schedule their meetings with College Counselor, Francesca Ohanessian.  During this meeting, we will discuss the various colleges and programs that might be of interest to your student, the SAT/ACT, and answer any initial questions you might have about the process.  Please click HERE to schedule your appointment.  

Volunteers Needed for Music at Kohl Concert Sunday, 1/27 Music at Kohl Mansion is looking for volunteers for our next concert on Sunday, January 27, 2019. Volunteers are needed from 6-10pm to help in the front of house (distributing programs, taking tickets, ushering) and for reception preparation (preparing platters, serving, slean up. Student volunteers receive 4 hours of service credit. Parent volunteers receive our undying gratitude and everyone gets to enjoy the concert! Please contact Katie Riggs at admin@musicatkohl.org. Athlete of the Week:
Soccer player Lizzie Bermudez
A sophomore, Lizzie was consistent in her commitment to training through the break and her performance in the last game vs. San Mateo HS helped to seal our win. Up 1-0 in the game on Monday, Lizzie struck with a long distance goal to help put our team up 2 goals. The goal help to deflate the other team as Mercy went on to secure the 2-0 win. She has become an excellent leader on the field with her vision, skills, and soccer IQ. She has been consistently strong in the attack and managing the general flow of the game. Her performance and support, coincides with the other outstanding performances within the team, has positioned us to have a strong preseason and solid foundation heading into the conference competition beginning this week. Great job Lizzie, keep it going!

Games & Practice Schedule

Jan. 10-16

Spring Sport Conditioning sessions are now ongoing. Meet in the Grassilli Center.

• 3-4pm-Softball and Swimming
• 4-5pm-Lacrosse
• Track and Field will meet for Strength and Conditioning on Tuesday and Thursday 3-4pm
• Gymnastics is conditioning on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at Gymtowne Gymnastics 3-4pm
• If there is a conflict with the Monday or Wednesday schedule for conditioning, contact Keri Sotak in the athletic trainer's office to line up Tuesday/Thursday schedule from 3-4pm.

Spring Sport Tryouts start on January 28. Any athlete planning on trying out for a spring sport is required to attend strength and conditioning sessions. Meet at the weight room in Grassilli. If you are playing on Mercy winter team or participating on a club team, you do not have to attend the sessions. You must notify Mr. Dougherty of the club team in which you are playing if you plan on not attending the conditioning sessions.

Magnus System Reminder:  If your daughter is planning on playing a Spring Sport, please make sure they are fully registered and cleared thru the Magnus system through PowerSchool.

Mercy would like to welcome Pia Crosby as a member of the counseling team from January to June 2019. Mrs. Crosby, a licensed marriage and family therapist, joins Mercy during Mrs. O'Sullivan's maternity leave. She holds a master's degree in clinical psychology and marital family therapy from Notre Dame de Namur, and she has had many years of experience working with students in schools and in clinical settings.

We wish Mrs. O'Sullivan and her family a healthy and happy maternity leave as they welcome their second daughter. Mrs. Crosby's email address is pcrosby@mercyhsb.com, and you can reach her at (650) 762-1142. All sophomores and seniors will have Mrs. Crosby as their counselor in spring semester.

The number of U.S. high school seniors who are vaping has more than doubled in the last year, and 1.3 million teens are using tobacco. You can read more on the news HERE. We want to work together to keep our girls safe! 

PSAT scores are now available online through the Collegeboard.  

Please log on to www.collegeboard.org to access your student's scores.  If you are having trouble logging in, please contact the Collegeboard directly at 866-433-7728.  Mercy does not have access to your student's collegeboard accounts.  If you have any questions about your student's scores, please feel free to contact the academic counselor or Mrs. Ohanessian - the college counselor.  

Winter Formal, City of Stars, is at the Regency Center in San Francisco!

February 1st • 7:00-10:00PM

Discounted tickets go on sale December 5th in the SBO Office for $85 per person. After Winter Break the price will rise to $95 per person. Students may purchase their tickets in the SBO Office during lunches and break. Permission forms must be signed by a parent to purchase a ticket.
