WEEKLY FEATURE

Image

Mercy's Internship program provides career exploration opportunities in which students spend time working with a teacher or staff member at the school for course credit. In a variety of fields from Admissions to Chemistry, students are exposed to experiences and work that are representative of the teacher or staff member's daily activities. Working on a mix of normal operating activities and special projects, students gain skills and responsibility. Grace Zhang '20 helps Mrs. Murphy keep the library running smoothly, as well as develop innovative new ideas. For example, she demonstrated how to bring creativity to a research project with an interactive map highlighting effects of climate change in San Mateo County! Ms. Kury-Arnold's Art intern Christiana Wong '19 created special preview videos of Mercy Dance, Chorale, and 2D programs that are featured on the Mercy website and Facebook page. She is also managing the art studio, monitoring supplies, and using data management techniques to develop a more efficient tracking and ordering system for our art supplies!

 Senior Parents
Join us in celebrating your senior by placing a Yearbook Recognition Ad for your student. The final deadline set by Jostens is Saturday, December 1st.  To purchase, click HERE. Ad space is limited so purchase yours today!

A few tips for creating your ad
Words: Think about the message from the point of view of your daughter:

  • What moments in their life were significant?
  • Does the family have any inside jokes that would make the tribute special for her?
  • What do you admire most about her?

Photos:

  • The ad will look better if the photos have the same orientation as the picture box
  • Use clear high-resolution photos. If a photo is blurry, it will be blurry in the ad
  • Use the cropping tools on the website to crop out unnecessary background to focus on your student

Mercy Athletes of the Week:
Soccer Players Giana Zamagni
and Genevieve Flieder

Giana and Gen are the co-captains of this year's soccer team. Both Seniors, they are leaders on defense. Gen is the returning starting Goalkeeper and Giana is a returning force on the defensive backline. Aside from their play on the field, they have played an important role in getting this large group organized with carpools, warm-ups, and preseason team bonding events. During all of the movement and changes in schedules during the air quality days, they have been instrumental in keeping 37 team members in communication and well organized. The Varsity and JV teams both came away with satisfying 2-0 wins over EL Camino yesterday to open their seasons.Great job Giana and Gen, keep up the efforts.
