Happy Halloween! We had a great afternoon with a school-wide costume contest. It was so much fun to see all the creative individual and group costumes the students came up with. Faculty and staff even dressed up to get in on the excitement! Since it was a Club Collaboration day, the Heritage Club had a special presentation about cultural festivals that honor the dead. From Día de los Muertos in Mexico to Samhain in Ireland and Scotland, they discussed ways to honor and remember loved ones with thankful hearts. We hope that everyone has a fun and safe Halloween!

Mercy Winter Outerwear:

During the transition from fall to cold winter weather, we would like to work with Mercy students to ensure that they stay warm and healthy. From November 2018 to February 28, 2019, layering in a long sleeved polo, tights, black leggings and socks is highly encouraged. Absolutely no blankets are permitted. School policy states that a student is required to wear Mercy outerwear or non-Mercy outwear in approved uniform colors.  Links to approved Mercy outwear items can be found here for millswear and Crusader Wear.

Students are allowed to wear non-Mercy winter jackets and vests. Acceptable colors are navy blue, black, white and gray. This does not apply to fleece, sweatshirts and windbreakers. Please do not wear non-Mercy outerwear on formal uniform and liturgy days. A student will receive a uniform infraction if she fails to comply with the preceding. This policy will be reviewed at the end of February 2019 and updated as needed.

Attention Senior Parents: Join us in celebrating your senior by placing a Yearbook Recognition Ad for your student by November 16th. To purchase, click HERE. Ad space is limited so purchase yours today!

A few tips for creating your ad
Words: Think about the message from the point of view of your daughter:

  • What moments in their life were significant?
  • Does the family have any inside jokes that would make the tribute special for her?
  • What do you admire most about her?

  • The ad will look better if the photos have the same orientation as the picture box
  • Use clear high-resolution photos. If a photo is blurry, it will be blurry in the ad
  • Use the cropping tools on the website to crop out unnecessary background to focus on your student

Mercy Athlete of the Week:

Junior Golfer Maya Zeidan

Maya, a 3 year member of the golf team has proven to be one of the most consistent golfers in the program. This past week, Maya paced the Mercy team with a low score of 82 at the WBAL championships at the challenging Baylands Course. Maya was either low score or 2nd low in every match for the team this season. Her consistent play throughout the season helped the Mercy team to win 6 league matches and finish 4th in an extremely competitive WBAL. Great job Maya, keep it going!

Financial Assistance Program for 2019-2020

We recognize that families have varying financial needs and make financial sacrifices to provide their daughters with a strong academic education. Awards are made for a one-year period, families must re-apply each year. The application process is fair and confidential, assessed by an outside firm (TADS) that specializes in school financial assistance programs. Financial aid awards are made based on a family's demonstrated need and the availability of school funds.

All families who would like to be considered for financial assistance for the 2019-20 school year must complete an online financial aid application and submit all necessary documentation. The deadline for applying 8th grade families is no later than January 7, 2019 and for returning 10th, 11th and 12th grade families February 8, 2019*. Visit the website HERE for more information and the online TADS application.  Late applications are processed and reviewed, but meeting the appropriate deadline is strongly recommended to be included in the first round of aid awards. Please contact Lynn Beal at 650-762-1101 or lbeal@mercyhsb.com if you have any questions.

*Please note: Families that have both an applying 8th grader and returning student must meet the January 7, 2019 deadline.
