WEEKLY FEATURE

Image

We are 8 weeks in to the 2018 Fall Sports season and we're so proud of our athletes! A young team, Cross Country had solid performances at the Serra Jamboree and Lowell Invitationals, which will prove to be invaluable experience for upcoming league meets. Golf is 'on par' to equal last year's win total - the highest number of match wins for Mercy Golf in recent history! Impressive league wins include big victories over Sacred Heart Prep and Notre Dame Belmont. Varsity Tennis exceeded last year's win total and are currently sitting 3rd place in league standings. JV has put together some great matches, with the girls learning and improving with each match. In Mercy Volleyball, Varsity has 16 wins for the season and are on pace to again qualify for CCS playoffs! Both JV and Frosh have exceeded last year's win totals, and hope to stack more victories in the coming weeks. In Water Polo, Varsity is improving on last year's record and has secured impressive league wins over Capuchino and Hillsdale. JV polo, the first team fielded in three years, is gaining valuable experience while playing in some tough matches. All our teams have important league games coming up, so come out and cheer them on!

ALL SCHOOL NEWS

From the Head of School

You have heard me talk often at Mercy about how we graduate caring, resilient, confident young women. Helping them to make the transition from uncertain 8th graders to confident high school graduates begins when they enter Mercy. This transformation is truly a partnership between you as parents and all of us at Mercy. This article, "The Confidence Gap for Girls", appeared in the October 4th New York Times. I think you may find it informative and helpful.

Attention Senior Parents: Join us in celebrating your senior by placing a Yearbook Recognition Ad for your student by November 1st. To purchase, click HERE. Ad space is limited so purchase yours today!

A few tips for creating your ad
Words: Think about the message from the point of view of your daughter:

  • What moments in their life were significant?
  • Does the family have any inside jokes that would make the tribute special for her?
  • What do you admire most about her?

Photos:

  • The ad will look better if the photos have the same orientation as the picture box
  • Use clear high-resolution photos. If a photo is blurry, it will be blurry in the ad
  • Use the cropping tools on the website to crop out unnecessary background to focus on your student
