WEEKLY FEATURE

Image

This week, students in Ms. LaFarge and Ms. Stewart's Biology classes are doing fieldwork for a Biodiversity lab! Classes will be comparing environments in two locations on our beautiful campus (terrestrial and aquatic) and collecting data to answer the question, "What is the Biodiversity on Mercy's campus?" They will be doing mathematical analysis - making data tables, graphing, and analyzing the data as they compare the two types of ecosystems. Students will be challenged to consider why biodiversity is important, and will engage with a larger Citizen Science movement, uploading their findings to iNaturalist. Everyone is enjoying the hands-on learning and nice weather!

Parents in Partnership: Engage Invest Connect
The success of your daughters and our school are linked and strengthened by our partnership with you. This year, we are asking every family to help us reach our goal of 100% parent participation in The Mercy Fund, as your first show of support. Every gift no matter of its size makes an impact. Strong parent participation builds community, identifies solidarity, and often inspires significant additional gifts. Thank you to all who have had an opportunity to participate in The Mercy Fund with a donation or pledge this year! For questions, contact Jennifer Munsey.

Mercy Athlete of the Week:

Golfer Brooke Barron

Just a freshman, Brooke has already established herself as one of the Mercy golf team top scorers. Brooke was low score at both qualifiers in which the team has played. She then was low score in the team's first match last Monday vs. Castilleja. Brooke shot 4 over par 39 with 3 pars and birdie in her round. Brooke was also low score for Mercy in the Helen Lengfeld tourney played yesterday at San Jose CC. Great start to your Mercy golf career, Brooke - keep it going!

If your daughter is planning on playing a sport, please make sure they are fully registered and cleared through the Magnus system. You need to register each year your daughter plays a sport, accessible from the Parent Portal in Powerschool. A current sports physical (valid for one year) is required to show clearance. No athlete will be allowed to start tryouts unless they show clearance in the Magnus system.
