Many of our teachers took in-depth professional development training to learn new ways of engaging students. With the mentorship of Knowing Technologies, Mercy's EdTech consultants, teachers are developing and implementing exciting strategies - here is a small sample! Michele Gachowski (American Sign Language) is using an app called Flipgrid that leverages the power of video interactions in a social learning platform, where students can receive quick and immediate feedback from their instructors and peers in real time. Stefanie Oudiz (English) is developing a program that teaches study skill strategies such as organization, time management, research, presentations, and reading in all curriculum areas - skills necessary for college and careers. Lindsay Stewart (Biology, Anatomy) has created a flexible learning environment in her classroom to provide different spaces for students to engage in the learning process (see picture above). Tom Wootten (Social Studies) is developing a number of project-based learning strategies, including the use of a green screen in students' multimedia projects.
