Overcoming Overwhelm

On April 11th, Mercy and Fusion Academy San Mateo co-hosted a panel of psychotherapists, published authors, and education specialists to speak about the modern stressors our students face. Attendees learned about the latest research and techniques to address overwhelm, 'interrupt' patterns of behavior, and build resilience in the face of academic and social pressures. Parents also received valuable advice on how to model healthy skill sets for youth. The event concluded with an insightful Q&A from Mercy parents and the wider community. Thanks to all that attended the event!

The Big Five Safety Protocol:

Mercy High School adheres to Big Five language and safety practices in an effort to remain uniform with the San Mateo Unified School District and Emergency Response teams. All staff and students participate in trainings throughout the academic year, so that the community knows how to respond if the situation arises. Please familiarize yourself with the visual so that you are familiar with our safety protocols.

Library News - Author Visit

The library is pleased to host our final author visit for the school year on April 23 (Monday) during collaboration. Siobhan Vivian will visit the library to talk to the girls about her soon to be published (April 24!) book "Stay Sweet", and the importance of friendship, persistence and staying strong when things get difficult. Ms. Vivian is a NYTimes best selling author, and has written several other YA books, including "The last boy and girl in the world", and "The List".  If you would like to purchase one of her books, Ms Vivian will be able to sign your copy at Mercy after the book talk. A book order form is HERE.  Pre-orders are requested to ensure we have enough books. Please note the girls who attend Ms. Vivian's talk will be eligible for 1 hour of service learning.

Thank You Volunteers!

Music at Kohl Mansion would like to thank all our volunteers who helped with our Daedalus Quartet concert on Sunday, April 15: Steve Epstein, Cher Fuentes, Veronica and Katherine Lopez, Denise and Zhari Malig, Pam & Fred Matthews, Mike Popa, Tori Rosen, Madeline Wang and Jessica Yang. This was our last concert of the season and I'd also like to thank again all the volunteers who helped us with concerts throughout the season. As a non-profit organization, our success relies on volunteers to make our concerts and events and we are very grateful to all those who are kind enough to contribute their time and many talents to Music at Kohl.

Our new season begins in October and we hope that many of this season's volunteers will join us again! Have a wonderful summer!
