STUDENTS SPEAKING OUT AGAINST GUN VIOLENCE On March 14th Mercy High School will join students from around the nation in speaking out against gun violence. Responding to requests from students and as part of our mission as a Mercy school respecting the Sisters of Mercy Critical Concern of Nonviolence, we will be using collaboration time on this day to educate, inform and react to the horrific number of acts of gun violence against school students. Over the next 14 days students will be learning about all the issues concerning the national focus on gun violence – the 2nd amendment, rights of hunters, gun control, causes of violence, etc. On March 14th the schedule will be:
As we approach this date there will be articles and videos, posters and letters developed by the students. As an administration, faculty and staff we support their efforts and their advocacy. What they are doing on March 14th is as important as classroom instruction and anything they can learn from a textbook or video. If you would like to join us on the lawn and on the walk to El Camino and back we welcome your presence and support.
