FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Financial Assistance Program for 2018-19
Mercy High School recognizes that families have varying financial needs and make financial sacrifices which include adjusting spending priorities and maximizing both parents' earnings to provide their daughters with a strong academic education. The Financial Assistance Program at Mercy strives to help those families who, even with personal sacrifices, have a difficult time meeting the full tuition obligation. Awards are made for a one-year period, families must re-apply each year. The application process is fair and confidential. Assessments are done by an outside firm (TADS) that specializes in school financial assistance programs. Financial aid awards are made based on a family's demonstrated need and the availability of school funds.

All families who would like to be considered for financial assistance for the 2018-19 school year must complete an online financial aid application. Applications must be submitted by February 9, 2018* with all necessary documentation.  This link https://www.mercyhsb.com/admissions/financial-aid-clone will direct you to our website for further information and the online TADS application.  Late applications are processed and reviewed, but meeting the appropriate deadline is strongly recommended to be included in the first round of aid awards.  Please contact Lynn Beal at 650-762-1101 or lbeal@mercyhsb.com if you have any questions.

*Please note returning 10th, 11th and 12th grade families must apply by February 9, 2018.  Families that have both an applying 8th grader and returning student must meet the December 11, 2017 deadline.

One Warm Coat Drive

The Sisters of Mercy's One Warm Coat drive will officially begin next Monday, November 13th and will end on Friday, January 12th.  Hope you've been gathering up your clean and gently used men, women and children coats, jackets and sweaters.  The blue bins will be located in Mercy Center front office and in Russell Hall main lobby.

This year we will be collecting for City Team Ministries who serve people of extreme poverty. They have a great outreach to those who live on the streets of our cities.

COLLEGE COUNSELING

Here are some updates for the week:

Check your Naviance for Submissions: Teachers and Counselors are submitting your letters of recommendation.  You can check to see if everything has been submitted for you in Naviance.  If you need something to be submitted, please come by and see me or send me an email.

University of Washington and November 15th Early Action Deadlines: Be sure you know what your deadlines are.  This week, we have University of Washington as well as some big Early Action deadlines.  If you change your mind and want to apply early action, please come by and see me right away or email me.  I would hate for your materials to be late because we missed it on Naviance.

CSU and UC Applications are due at the end of the month: This year both Common App and Naviance had problems before the November 1st deadline so be sure to get your application in well before the November 30th deadline. I strongly encourage you to think about submitting in the next week.

Submit your test scores: Don't forget to send your SAT and ACT scores.  You can do so on www.colllegeboard.org and www.actstudent.org.  Please come by and see me if you have any questions.  Mercy will not send your test scores, so you must send your test scores on your own.

Have you already been admitted?:  Be sure to update your naviance with decisions as well.  We will also be updating the Map in Russell to add your schools to it, so stay tuned!

Have fun with your friends!: When working on your applications make sure you take some time to yourself. Balance is important so make sure you are having some fun too.

Keep up the great work!  Here are the helpful links you will need:

MUSIC AT KOHL

MUSIC AT KOHL MANSION SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR DECEMBER 17 CONCERT
Music at Kohl Mansion will be presenting our Gala Holiday concert on Sunday, December 17. Mercy parents and students are needed as volunteers to help with front of house duties (taking tickets, distributing programs, ushering) and concert reception help (preparing food platters, setting up, serving, cleaning up) from about 6-10pm. The mansion will be dressed in its holiday best and inspire anyone in its midst to get in the holiday mood.

This is a fun way to get to know other Mercy parents and students, listen to world-class chamber musicians, all while helping out Music at Kohl (non-profit chamber music concert presenter and local music education provider). Students receive service credit for hours served. For more information or to sign up to volunteer for any of the concert dates, please contact volunteer coordinator/ program administrator Yvonne Wun at admin@musicatkohl.org. For more information about our concert series, link to: www.musicatkohl.org.

We hope you will join us!
