Thanksgiving Prayer

"To be grateful is to recognize the Love of God in everything He has given us - and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him. Gratitude therefore takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise of the goodness of God. For the grateful person knows that God is good, not by hearsay but by experience. And that is what makes all the difference." ―Thomas Merton

*Open House a success!
Thank you to all the parents and especially the approximately 150 students who volunteered this past Sunday at Open House!  We had a great turn out of middle school families interested in Mercy, and our students did an excellent job of representing Mercy. Please let anyone you know who may be interested in applying that our priority application filing date is December 11, and our Final application filing date is January 10. There are still a few spots open for shadow days as well. May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  -Gratefully, Patricia Glasser and Elizabeth Agler, Admission Department.

*Thank you to all who supported and helped with A Toast to Mercy last weeks Wine Tasting Event!  Please see next week's eNews for more...thank you!

Financial Assistance Program for 2018-19
Mercy High School recognizes that families have varying financial needs and make financial sacrifices which include adjusting spending priorities and maximizing both parents' earnings to provide their daughters with a strong academic education. The Financial Assistance Program at Mercy strives to help those families who, even with personal sacrifices, have a difficult time meeting the full tuition obligation. Awards are made for a one-year period, families must re-apply each year. The application process is fair and confidential. Assessments are done by an outside firm (TADS) that specializes in school financial assistance programs. Financial aid awards are made based on a family's demonstrated need and the availability of school funds.

All families who would like to be considered for financial assistance for the 2018-19 school year must complete an online financial aid application. Applications must be submitted by February 9, 2018* with all necessary documentation.  This link will direct you to our website for further information and the online TADS application.  Late applications are processed and reviewed, but meeting the appropriate deadline is strongly recommended to be included in the first round of aid awards.  Please contact Lynn Beal at 650-762-1101 or if you have any questions.

*Please note returning 10th, 11th and 12th grade families must apply by February 9, 2018.  Families that have both an applying 8th grader and returning student must meet the December 11, 2017 deadline.

Music at Kohl Mansion will be presenting our Gala Holiday concert on Sunday, December 17. Mercy parents and students are needed as volunteers to help with front of house duties (taking tickets, distributing programs, ushering) and concert reception help (preparing food platters, setting up, serving, cleaning up) from about 6-10pm. The mansion will be dressed in its holiday best and inspire anyone in its midst to get in the holiday mood.

This is a fun way to get to know other Mercy parents and students, listen to world-class chamber musicians, all while helping out Music at Kohl (non-profit chamber music concert presenter and local music education provider). Students receive service credit for hours served. For more information or to sign up to volunteer for any of the concert dates, please contact volunteer coordinator/ program administrator Yvonne Wun at For more information about our concert series, link to:
