*CSF APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE! 

If you would like to apply to CSF using your Spring 2017 grades, please turn in the attached application to Mrs. Ohanessian by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH.  Do not leave applications in the main office. Late applications will not be considered. Click HERE for application

  • You must reapply every semester
  • Always use grades from the prveious semester ONLY
  • The application fee is $5.00 per semester
  • A transcript or report card must be attached to the application
 

*AP EXAM FEES DUE October 11, 2017:

Students taking AP exams this year must submit this FORM with a check for their AP Exams. Exams are $94 per exam. If you are taking an AP exam at Serra or Notre Dame, you must pay the exam fee at the host school.  All fees and forms are due to Mrs. Morello in Russell Hall by October 11, 2017.   Please come see College Counselor Francesca Ohanessian with any questions about the AP Exams.

Magnus Health 

All students must have emergency contact information updated on Magnus Health, an online database via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Families should upload Physical and Immunization records, provide medical and emergency information, electronically sign off on the Consent for Treatment form and Athletic Contract. Athletes must have this completed by Wednesday, Sept 6th. If any athlete is not registered by then they will not practice or play until all the information is received.  Please click HERE for more information.

Sign up today on the Campus Ministry Door. Each participant is asked to raise $40, and walk for the Catholic Worker 
Hospitality House. Checks should be made out to: Catholic Worker Hospitality House. Please write walker's name on the memo line of each check.

COLLEGE COUNSELING

*Now is the time that we want to be narrowing down the schools you hope to apply to and starting work on your applications. 

 

Here are the links to the open applications (CSU applications will be available October 1st!):

 

College Visits: The colleges will continue next week.  Check your naviance and college visit calendar for any upcoming schools.  Be sure to give your teachers 24 hours notice that you will be missing class. All meetings will be in Room 306. 

 

Meeting with Mrs. O: Set up your meeting with me in the upcoming weeks.  We will go over your list and create an action plan for applying to college. Email me or stop by to set up a meeting. 

 

SAT/ACT Testing:  Make sure you are registered for a test this fall. The last accepted test date is December so be sure to register before then.  Register for the SAT at www.collegeboard.org and the ACT atwww.actstudent.org.  

 

Personal Statement Help: Get help writing your personal statement from the counseling department or the English teachers.  Everyone is happy to help with your personal statement.  Please reach out to one of us for help! 

College Visitation Week
Mercy encourages students to visit prospective colleges in order to make an informed decision about possible attendance. Families are encouraged to book these trips in line with the scheduled Mercy school holidays. Mercy seniors can also tour schools during College Visitation Week, October 11th-13th, 2017.

*Mercy Athlete of the Week
Cross Country runner Muriel Butler  
Muriel, a senior has started this cross country season by finishing first in the annual Mercy B/Mercy SF race. Her first place finish helped Mercy B beat Mercy SF. The team swept the first 5 places of the race. In addition, Muriel ran an extremely competitive race this past Saturday at the Lowell Invitational. She averaged 7.26 per mile in the race. Her time this year beat her time by 45 seconds in the same race last year. Muriel is also a valued team leader who is setting good example for the younger team members by her strong work ethic each day in practice. Congratulations and Great job Muriel!

*Soccer Players: There will be an interest meeting for any girl interested in playing soccer this upcoming season at Mercy. Meeting will be at 1:30pm (during collab) on Sept 20 in the bleachers by the pool in Grassilli.

 

*It is Mandatory that each family be fully registered in the Magnus system. You can only activate your daughters profile by going thru the Parents PowerSchool account. If an athlete is not fully registered as showing a sports clearance physical form, all emergency contact information and consent to treat, they will not be allowed to practice or play until all information required is submitted. Signed athletic contracts must be checked off as well.  There will be no exceptions!

 

If your daughter is planning on playing basketball or soccer, please start the Magnus registration process now to get clearance. Get your sports physical done now. Do not wait till the last moment to make an appointment. No athlete will be allowed to start the tryouts on Oct 30 if they are not cleared to participate. 

 

Conditioning Schedule for the Fall: Meet in the Grassilli Center

  • Monday and Wednesday 3-4pm Varsity Volleyball
  • Starting on Tuesday Sept 5: We will have conditioning sessions for any Winter and Spring Season Athlete: Meet in the Grassilli Center -  Tuesday and Thursdays
    3:15-4:45pm

 

Treatment times: Any athlete who is in need of treatment for injury, Emerald will be available in Grassilli Center Monday and Wednesday from 4-5pm

MUSIC AT KOHL

Mercy Parents and Students Needed for Music at Kohl Concert Series
Music at Kohl Mansion opens its season on October 22 and runs through April 15, 2018. Mercy parents and students are needed as volunteers to help with front of house duties (taking tickets, distributing programs, ushering) and concert reception help (preparing food platters, setting up, serving, cleaning up) on the following Sunday evenings from about 6-10pm:

October 22, November 12, December 17, January 21, 
February 4, March 4, March 25, April 15

 

This is a fun way to get to know other Mercy parents and students, listen to world-class chamber musicians, all while helping out Music at Kohl (non-profit chamber music concert presenter and local music education provider). Students receive service credit for hours served.
