Tuesday, Aug. 29  -  6:30-9:30 pm
Join us for Back to School Night on the Mercy campus for an opportunity to take a walk in your daughter's footsteps.  A schedule of the night's events will start with your daughter's first class and follow her entire schedule. Click HERE to print out a blank template for your daughter to fill in her schedule, room numbers and teacher names for this event. 

  • Sophomore families are invited to an information session about Guidance and PSAT. This meeting will give families an opportunity to obtain information and ask questions about the test, which is administered in October. This session will begin at 6 p.m. in the Great Hall.

*The Mercy Bowl-A-Thon Kickoff is Monday Aug. 28th!  Mercy High School's Bowl-A-Thon is one of the highlights of the fall semester, thanks to the Student Body Officers (SBOs) who put on an amazing day for all of our Mercy students!

Again this year,  Mercy has partnered with eTeamSponsor to administer and support the Bowl-A-Thon fundraising efforts ONLINE! eTeamSponsor is an innovating software platform that enables schools,Foundations and non profits to raise funds safely and effectively.

Magnus Health 

New for the 2017-18 School year, Mercy has partnered with Magnus Health, an online database. Families can upload Physical and Immunization records, provide medical and emergency information, electronically sign off on the Consent for Treatment form and Athletic Contract, securely via their PowerSchool Parent Portal.  Please click HERE for more information.

School Supply Drive
August 22 - August 28 
The Campus Ministry Department will be collecting school supplies for resident students at Mercy Housing's affordable housing units in Visitacion Valley.  The drive will be held from August 22 - August 28.  Students can drop off their donations in front of the Mansion between 7:40-8:00 am.  Items needed include: binders, divider tabs, notebooks, two pocket folders, pens, pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, rulers, binder paper and glue sticks. If you have any questions please contact Angie Simonetti at 650 762-1149.

TRANSPORTATION

  • BART/CalTrain
    Mercy will continue to run a shuttle from the BART/CalTrain station (California Drive pick up station) twice each morning at 7:20 and 7:40. In addition, the Burlingame City Shuttle can bring students to the Mercy Center entrance leaving the station at  
  • We will also continue to transport students on "A" days to and from Tri-School classes at Serra - 1st period students going to Mercy; 2nd period students going to Serra; 2nd period students returning to Mercy. Students must get themselves to 1st period at Serra along with any students in 0 period. There is no transportation between Mercy and Serra on "B" days.

JUNIOR AND SENIOR PARENTS 

College Visitation Week
Mercy encourages students to visit prospective colleges in order to make an informed decision about possible attendance. Families are encouraged to book these trips in line with the scheduled Mercy school holidays. Mercy seniors can also tour schools during College Visitation Week, October 11th-13th, 2017.

 

Attention All Senior Parents:
All Seniors should have taken their senior portrait with Lifetouch over the summer
.
If your daughter has not yet taken her portrait photo of scheduled and appointment please contact Lifetouch in San Carlos at 650 597 1433 or visit their website for more information. http://local.prestigeportraits.com/ca/san-carlos/990-industrial-road.html Families are not required to buy the photos, but all seniors must have a portrait on file for the yearbook.

 
SENIOR PARKING:  *ONLY 3 more days ~ Ends Friday 08/26/17: Parking Permit Requests are HERE or in the Main Office

The requirements are as follows:
1. Form must be completed and signed by student AND parent. 
2. Copy of Drivers License must be attached.
3. Fee of $100 (please make checks payable to Mercy High School)

Rising Seniors: Your opportunity to apply will end on Friday 08/26/17!


JUNIOR PARKING: Forms will now be accepted!
Parking Permit Requests are HERE or in the Main Office.Please turn in all required items with your permit application by Monday 08/28/17. (See above for requirements)  Junior Spots will be assigned on Tuesday 08/29/17.

COLLEGE COUNSELING

*College Boot Camp: Thank you for all those that came to College Boot Camp!  Please find the PowerPoint Presentations below.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Ohanessian

 

*Letters of Recommendation: Please complete this google form and let us know which counselor will be writing your letter of recommendation!  You will also need to request all letters of recommendation by September 1st.  Please remember to ask your teachers prior to sending them a request in Naviance. 

 

*Senior Autobiography: The Senior Autobiography is due on September 1st.  It can be found on Naviance under the about me tab.  You will find it on the left hand side. 

 

*SAT/ACT Testing:  Make sure you are registered for a test this fall. The last accepted test date is December so be sure to register before then.  Register for the SAT at www.collegeboard.org and the ACT at www.actstudent.org.  

 

*The UC Application is available!: Click HERE to start working on your application!

 

*The Common App is available!: Click here to begin work on your application!

 

*Personal Statement Help: Get help writing your personal statement from the counseling department or the English teachers.  Everyone is happy to help with your personal statement.  Please reach out to one of us for help!

New Retaining wall for Student Garden!
Boy Scout, Kevin Castellanos brother of graduate Odalis Castellanos '16 worked on the student garden this past Saturday together with multiple adult leaders, scouts from troop 149 and some Mercy students on his Eagle Scout project.  It involved the adult leaders, scouts, and Kevin working on the retaining wall while other adult leaders, scouts, and Mercy girls worked on clearing the vegetation of the garden. Mercy is very grateful for this beautiful and more sturdy retaining wall! Good job Kevin, adult leaders, troop 149  and Mercy students for your hard work!

  • Friday: Focaccia Burgers Our Secret Recipe All Beef Burger Grilled to perfection served on our soft and fluffy home made Rosemary and Chives Focaccia bread. Aside of Spring mix salad and our home made Balsamic Vinaigrette will complete this gourmet meal.

Mercy Parents and Students Needed for Music at Kohl Concert Series
Music at Kohl Mansion opens its season on October 22 and runs through April 15, 2018. Mercy parents and students are needed as volunteers to help with front of house duties (taking tickets, distributing programs, ushering) and concert reception help (preparing food platters, setting up, serving, cleaning up) on the following Sunday evenings from about 6-10pm:

October 22, November 12, December 17, January 21, 
February 4, March 4, March 25, April 15

 

This is a fun way to get to know other Mercy parents and students, listen to world-class chamber musicians, all while helping out Music at Kohl (non-profit chamber music concert presenter and local music education provider). Students receive service credit for hours served. For more information or to sign up to volunteer for any of the concert dates, please contact volunteer coordinator/ program administrator Yvonne Wun at admin@musicatkohl.org.
