We were just notified that Margaret Conn, class of 2015, has been awarded the second place cash award of $300.00 in the annual essay contest presented by the Foreign Language Association of Northern California. Her essay responded to the prompt "What impact does knowing a second language and culture have in your future?” To enter the contest a student must be or have been enrolled in a World Language course for a minimum of three years and be sponsored by a World Language teacher who is a member of FLANC. Her entry was sponsored by Spanish teacher, Mary Louise Castillo.
MPC will be collecting used uniforms from now through early June. Start clearing out those closets for skirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, polos, pants, shorts, etc. If you have a senior, plan on turning in her uniforms anytime during the next week. Please drop off at the Main Office.
A used uniform sale will be held at the end of June for all Mercy families, an email will be sent with date and times.
*Important Information on Parking
for Next School Year
Parking permit applications were made available to all juniors. Juniors may turn these forms into the Main Office up until the last day of finals in order to receive priority. In order for applications to be accepted students must turn in the completed form signed by themselves and a parent, a check made out for $100 to Mercy High School, and a copy of her drivers license.
Please note that students may only apply for permits if they have a current driver's license. Any applications turned in without a copy of a drivers license will not be accepted. No exceptions will be made to this rule.
Upon returning to school this fall, seniors (current juniors) will again be given priority to apply for parking if spots are still available. Seniors will have priority for the first week of school until Friday, August 21. Should any spots still be available after seniors have had priority, parking permit applications will open up to juniors. Junior parking will be decided based on a lottery system with special attention paid to those who carpool a number of fellow students or who have extreme circumstances. Due to the limited parking sophomores may not apply to park in Mercy's parking lot.
Please note that students may only apply for parking after they have received their drivers license.
Should a student not receive a parking permit but finds it necessary to drive to school, she may choose to partake in Mercy High School's additional parking option. Students who choose this option may park at the Millbrae Bart Station every morning . Students are shuttled to and from Mercy High School via the shuttle service that is sponsored by the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance. Please visit http://www.commute.org/index.php/shuttle-info/shuttle-by-city/2-general-pages/shuttle-info/89-burlingame-north-bartcaltrain for a schedule of drop off and pick up times.
If a student is unable to receive a parking permit and does not choose to use the Bart parking option please be aware that she may not drive to school and will need to find a carpool or have a parent or guardian drop her off to school each morning.
Based on the Conditional Use Permit Mercy High School has with the City of Burlingame, students may never park on the surrounding streets. Please be aware that any student who is caught parking on the streets will be given immediate disciplinary consequences as this rule must be followed at all times.
Should you have any additional questions regarding the parking permit application process or on parking options please contact the Assistant Principal of Student Life, Natalie Cirigliano, at email@example.com.
