The McAuley Scholar Program, named after Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, is Mercy’s highest academic program and offered to the top incoming freshmen. McAuley Scholars are identified through their tremendous commitment to their academics, their passion for learning, and their high achievement in the classroom and on the HSPT Exam. McAuley Scholars are awarded a $14,000 scholarship to be paid over four years in the amount of $3,500 each year.

The Mercy Bear Award is awarded to those Mercy applicants who embody the Mercy Bear through school spirit and active involvement in extracurricular activities. Award recipients represent their schools through involvement in a minimum of three extracurricular activities, with one representing at least a three year long term commitment that brings personal joy and builds community. The Mercy Bear recipients are awarded a $12,000 scholarship to be paid over four years in the amount of $3,000 each year.

The Heart of Mercy Award is awarded to those Mercy applicants who embody the heart of what a Mercy education represents. Award recipients model the Core Values of a Mercy Education- Compelled by Mercy, Educational Courage, Principled Leadership, A Voice for Dignity and Respect, and Inspired by Faith. Throughout the application process these young women have been recognized for their character, determination, selflessness, leadership, and commitment to social justice. Heart of Mercy Scholars are awarded a $40,000 scholarship to be paid over four years in the amount of $10,000 each year.

The Archdiocese of San Francisco offers a limited number of scholarships and grants to families. Consideration for these scholarships is indicated on the TADS application. Families must also submit a Clergy Recommendation Form from your pastor. Families do not need to be Catholic to apply, but they must be active in a church of any denomination. More Information

Achieve provides high school scholarships to first-generation, low-income students attending select Bay Area private schools, including Mercy High School. As a year-round leadership program, Achieve offers students academic and college support, mentoring, summer internships, and community engagement opportunities designed to foster personal and academic growth. Bay Scholars is a nonprofit Bay Area network dedicated to creating change through education. The program exists to make it possible for promising low-income students to access and thrive in college preparatory Catholic high schools across the San Francisco Bay Area. Scholarship awards are determined based on financial need and family size and are renewable for four years as long as the student remains in good standing at their Catholic high school. Many elementary schools offer award opportunities for eighth-graders who are applying to Catholic high schools. Check with your elementary school to see if there are upcoming opportunities.
