Mathematics Department

The Mathematics Department develops confident problem solvers and analytical thinkers through a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes reasoning, exploration, and real world application.

Students build strong foundations in mathematical reasoning and quantitative analysis while learning to approach complex problems with curiosity and persistence. Through a range of course pathways and individualized learning opportunities, students receive the challenge and support they need to strengthen their math skills, take ownership of their learning, and prepare for advanced study and future academic and career goals.

Individualized Learning

Mercy's optional individualized math learning opportunity allows students to progress at a pace aligned with their individual needs and goals across Algebra, Geometry (H), and Algebra II (H). Students work independently and collaboratively while receiving one on one guidance from teachers. In partnership with teachers and academic counselors, students develop academic plans that provide appropriate rigor, meet essential curriculum requirements, and support their college and career goals.

Eligible students are invited to apply for the Math National Honor Society - Mu Alpha Theta.
