Our Legacy of Faith & Service
We stand on the foundation built by the bold vision of the Sisters of Mercy- women whose faith moved them to action and whose compassion continues to shape generations. The charism of Mercy is rooted in faith, courage, dignity, and practical service, and it defines who we are and all we strive to become.

The Sisters of Mercy are an international community of Catholic women who lead with purpose and act with conviction. Inspired by their Foundress Catherine McAuley, they live out a fearless kind of faith- one that challenges injustice, uplifts the vulnerable, and never stops asking how mercy can transform the world.
“We must strive to do ordinary things extraordinarily well.” Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy

Catherine wasn’t just a woman of her time- she was ahead of it. In 1831 Dublin, she redefined what leadership and mercy could look like: practical, passionate, and unafraid to challenge injustice. Nearly two centuries later, her mission still drives everything we do.
At Mercy we don’t just teach our students about the Sisters of Mercy, we invite them to live their legacy by leading with courage, exploring with curiosity, serving with compassion, and changing the world. Discover how the principles and values of the Sisters of Mercy are woven into our curriculum and life at Mercy High School through faith and service, liturgies, retreats, and service learning.
