Mercy Education for the 21st Century

Mercy is a Catholic college preparatory school that prepares young woman for life in the complex and changing world of the 21st century. Mercy students develop intellectual curiosity, critical thinking and communication skills, a discerning mind and spirit, integrity, global awareness, compassion for others, and a faith-filled approach to life. At the heart of a Mercy education, is the integration of our Catholic faith and values into all aspects of student life and the formation of the whole person - mind, heart, body and soul.

Our teachers are dedicated to the success of each student and bring not only their expertise but their love of learning to the classroom. Our block schedule has provided a learning environment which goes beyond literacy and numerary scores. Mercy helps young women, of all backgrounds, to be independent thinkers and learners, problem solvers, team players, global citizens and women of faith and courage.

Mercy offers a challenging college preparatory program which includes Advanced Placement and Honors classes in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Foreign Language, Science, and Visual and Performing Arts. Our elective program offers a wide variety of courses to meet the needs of our diverse and talented student body. Unique to Mercy is a four-year UC approved program in American Sign Language. In addition, Mercy has the AMES Center for a limited number of students with documented learning differences, who need extra support in order to fulfill the requirements of a college preparatory curriculum. Mercy's curriculum encourages each student to develop her ability to think critically and communicate effectively.

We are proud of the vibrant family spirit that is at the heart of a Mercy education - students, parents, teachers, and staff all working together to create a dynamic community of learners and future leaders, and to provide excellence in Catholic education. Each year, 99% of our graduates go on to college with approximately 80% attending a four-year university. Mercy graduates are leaders in their communities in fields such as education, law, medicine, government, the arts, ministry, athletics and non-profit service.

Mercy also participates in the Tri-School Program with Junipero Serra High School and Notre Dame Belmont. The Tri-School program lets Mercy girls participate in coed classes, retreats, performing arts, community service and dances.
