Parent ENews

Dear Mercy Community,

Below is a message from Serra President Lars Lund regarding the loss of Calvin Riley ’15. Please keep the Riley family and the entire Serra High School community in your prayers during this difficult time.

All school information

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS:

ALL students must be registered in the Appryse system.

If your daughter is new to Mercy or will be playing a sport this year she must have a current physical as well. Please submit physicals to the Main Office prior to the beginning of school. We are required by California law to have all this information on hand before a student begins school. Failure to complete both steps may prevent your daughter from participating in tryouts for athletics or starting school on August 23rd.

To register on Appryse go to the Mercy web site: www.mercyhsb.com and access it under Quicklinks.

Questions please contact Christine Folan at 650.762.1109 or cfolan@mercyhsb.com.

All Sports Participants

  • Very Important: All students must be fully registered with the Appryse system. Each athlete must have their completed physical that shows they have been cleared to participate in sports and registered with Appryse.  If your daughter has not been cleared to play sports, she will not be able to start practice and/or tryouts.
  • All student athletes participating in a sport must turn in both the athlete and guardian contract found in the Athletic Handbook. If the signed forms by both student and guardian are not turned in, the student will not be allowed to tryout. Click on the handbook link and print a copy of the contract after you have read the handbook. The Athletic Handbook can be found on the website under Athletics/Forms & Athletic Qualifications. The contracts to be signed are at the end of the handbook. The completed contracts must be returned to the Athletic Director or to the main office.

* Please add Charlie Dougherty, Mercy Athletic Director, cdougherty@mercyhsb.com  and Claire Rietmann-Grout, Assistant Director for Student Life & Athletics crietmanngrout@mercyhsb.com to your email address book so that their emails will be delivered to your inbox and not to spam. Thank you!

Education travel

*Iceland is calling.  We are still trying to secure our school trip to Iceland.

It is 5 days and 4 nights. The departure date will be Saturday April 15th, 2017. The price is about $2400 per student. This includes air, lodging, meals, transportation and much more! This is not just a sightseeing tour (although there is a chance you will witness the Aurora Borealis!) We pride ourselves on the STEM aspects of this trip such as geothermal and hydroelectric energy, geography, geology, earth science, volcanology and history.

Please take a moment to check out the details. This link will take you to the detailed itinerary, power point and a short video:http://visionsineducation.co.uk/stem-discovery/fire-ice-iceland/

If you are interested, please contact Pat Bradley at pbradley@mercyhsb.com.  We will need to secure spots ASAP with a $200 deposit.  This is open to all grade levels!
