Summer School:

Students and parents, if you are planning to take a summer school class to ADVANCE (not remediate), you must send your counselor proof of registration for this course as soon as possible.

We also need to receive the transcript from the online or summer school by Aug. 1 (or contact Mrs. Conklin if you are unable to send it by then) in order to register you for the advanced class in the fall. If we do not have this information we will be unable to schedule you for the class in the fall and you will need to take that class at Mercy. Click HERE for The Summer School Request form.

Honors, AP, Tri-School Classes

Students, as we enter the last few weeks of the semester, please be sure to check in regularly with your teachers and counselors in order to maintain your grades. It's easy to get distracted by the end-of-the year events!

Students who plan to take an Honors, AP, or Tri-School class next year, it is especially important that you maintain your grades, as you will be removed from these classes in June if your final grade is not at the expected level. Please discuss this with your current teacher, counselor, or the department chair if you have questions. If we do need to remove you from an Honors, AP, or Tri-School class, your entire schedule could be changed and you may not receive the courses you selected.
____________________________________________________________________________

AP exams will take place May 2 - May 13. The library will be closed during this time. Students, please make sure you eat and sleep well, and arrive 20 minutes before the scheduled time of your exam. Chemistry, Chinese, Spanish, and French tests will take place in alternate classrooms. Please check with your instructor. Students, all cell phones must be turned off and put in your bag or locker before the exam.

Click HERE for the Summer School Course Catalog. Classes are available for advancement and remediation. Please sign up early so we can ensure that we have enough classes available. Your daughter should fill out the Summer School Request Form so that her schedule in the fall is accurate.

Mercy's Spring Concert celebrates our developing musicians.  Music is so important in our world and there are so many types and genres of music that bring satisfaction to people today. Our concert celebrates VOICES singing together in unison, harmony, some with accompaniment, some without.  We delight in the opportunity to sing a from a variety of traditions and with the Serra men many of our students get to appreciate a fuller range of sounds in the Tri-School Chorus, our  extra-curricular chorus, and we celebrate the development of music- reading skills and vocal technique as we offer an evening of music for our audience.  We hope you can come!

*Mercy Athlete of the Week:
Junior Softball player
Kaylyn Sterling

Kaylyn is a player who is always willing to do what the coach asks. Her natural position is the outfield but she has been asked to play 3rd base this year and has done a fantastic job filling a need for the team. A true value to the team comes in her batting abilities. A natural line drive hitter who utilizes her blazing speed, Kaylyn most recently had a couple of days to remember.  This past Friday against Notre Dame SJ, Kaylyn  hit 2 homeruns, 2 triples and 2 singles to finish a day where she was 6 for 6 at the plate with 6 rbi’s. She followed up with a game yesterday against Harker with 2 more HR’s and 5 rbi’s. Keep up the great work Kaylyn!

Very Important: Every student who plays on a Mercy athletic team must be fully registered with the Appryse system.   Each athlete must have their completed physical that shows they have been cleared to participate in sports. If your daughter has not been cleared to play sports, she will not be able to start practice and/or tryouts. You can access thru the Mercy website under Athletics/Forms.

Any student athlete participating in a sport must turn in both the athlete and guardian contract found in the Athletic Handbook. If the signed forms by both student and guardian are not turned in, the student will not be allowed to tryout. Click on the handbook link and print a copy of the contract after you have read the handbook. The Athletic Handbook can be found on the website under Athletics/Forms & Athletic Qualifications. The contracts to be signed are at the end of the handbook. The completed contracts must be returned to the Athletic Director or to the main office.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

IMPORTANT INFORMATION about Service hours and news about a program we will be using next year.

Dear Parents,

All student's service hours are due on May 11th!  Please take the time to check in with your daughter or email me (pdiaz@mercyhsb.com) to see how many hours she has completed thus far.

Please see below to see how grades are determined for service:

  • All students with completed and approved hours by May 11 will receive an A
  • Students with approved hours by final exam week (Tuesday, May 31st) will receive a B.
  • Students with approved hours before grades are due (Tuesday, June 7) receive a C.
  • Any students who turn in hours AFTER June 7 will receive an F for the 2015-16 school year.

These grades will show on the student's official transcript in addition to the amount of hours actually completed.

Second, next school year, a new program will be introduced so that students and parents/guardians have access to view their hours at all times! Mercy has secured a contract with the company x2VOL for this service. More details to follow in the fall.

Lastly, thank you for all your support in helping your daughters complete their hours! Many of you drive them to their sites and then some. I know the hours you put in and I am grateful! Mercy values service for the sole reason that it builds faith and civic character which is vital component in developing the whole student!

God bless,
Peter Diaz
